Hello Fellow athletic enthusiasts!

Happy March!  I hope we have finally turned the corner of old man winter and we will be looking forward to warmer temperatures and clear roads.  We had a very successful Winter Series 2018 with our final race of the series and first Grand Prix on Sunday, 2/25/18. 


I would like to thank Bill Schneider, Joann Nowak, the Lacenere family and all the many volunteers and sponsors that made the winters series such a success.  We had a great post-race award celebration honoring the recipients of the Grand Prix race circuit of 2017 and especially the 13 Ironmen whom completed all 12 races.  Kudos to: (the 13 names of the Ironmen from Grand Prix).   Also, congratulations to the overall winners of the 35th annual Winter series and age group award recipients!  It was great to see all the camaraderie that results from runners, walkers, spectators and volunteers all getting together and to support our host for the series, HONOR.


We have a few key races in March, Celebrate Life ½ marathon and relay on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 10:00 am in Rock Hill, NY; the Shamrock Scramble, March 18, 2018 in Wallkill NY which is a Grand Prix event and Run for the Gold on March 24, 2018 in Montgomery, NY.  Let’s all try and present a good representation of ORC at these events!


Last month we subbed in the Classic Recognition dinner at Kuhl’s Highland House.  All who attended had a nice time despite the weather and thank you to Frank Giannino for organizing this event.
I am looking forward to our march monthly meeting on Wednesday, 3/7/18 at Old Erie in Middletown NY starting at 7:00 pm.  We have a full agenda including a guest speaker, Donna Houlihan from Hudson Valley Boot Camp.

“I entered into fitness industry 23 years ago as a fitness instructor and personal trainer that eventually led to fitness director.  I have taught aerobics, step, kick boxing, spinning, rebounding, sports conditioning and boot camp.  I purchased Hudson Valley Boot camp seven years ago and have been successful in building business and environment that helps others reach their health and fitness goals” 


Our ‘Monday Miles’ are going strong. These miles are held Monday evenings beginning from the YMCA parking lot.  Please contact Ed O’Connell (845 591-9329) for further details. During the winter months, we also have Wednesday group runs from the YMCA in Middletown beginning approximately 5:45 – again, please contact Ed O’Connell of just show up ready to run and/or walk.  All levels are encouraged.


Please note:  Track workouts will officially start on Wednesday, 4/4/18 with Drew Priest once again leading the charge.  Will look forward to some fast laps once the nice weather hits.


 As we roar into March like a lion, I encourage all of you to embrace your pace.  We are beginning to build the foundation for many fun filled races/walks ahead for 2018.  Whatever your pace or level of fitness, injury or recovery,

Embrace Your Pace, revel in being outside, on the road, whether solo or with groups, enjoy the time shared with one another.  Life happens fast!
