What is the Hudson Valley Grand Prix (HVGP)
The Hudson Valley Grand Prix, now in its seventh year, is a year-long race program that is designed to encourage friendly competition and achieve personal goals while interspersing excitement and suspense! A variety of distances and difficulty levels encourages goal-inspiring performances by runners exercising perseverance, patience and vigilance. The HVGP at one time or another has attracted almost all elite runners in the region, plus dedicated "developing" runners. Overall winners, first, second and third, male and female, will receive $100.00, 75.00, and 50.00 gift certificates from Groo's Athlete's Action, in Middletown. Although not announced at the start of the 2007 season, the HVGP, because of the generosity of our main sponsor, Groo's Athlete's Action, of Middletown, there will be age-group, first place, elite and developing, male and female winners receiving $25.00 certificates from Athlete's Action. This is in addition to first place prize money; Trophies in all the above categories will remain unchanged. Random drawings for five $50.00 certificates to Athlete's Action will be available to ALL HVGP members, regardless of the number of races completed. Two additional 5K races will be available to 12-&-UNDER ONLY, for a total of seven 5K's.
The HVGP Board includes John Finnigan, Director; Cliff Davis; Marco Pabon; George Shurter; Art Ahr; Todd Jennings; Steve Brockett; Steve Holmbraker, ORC liaison; Dennis Toscano, SSRC liaison. Sponsors include Groo's Athlete's Action of Middletown, Rowley Building Products, The McMickle Agency ( Middletown ), The Winners Bracket ( Middletown ) and Patterson Painting ( Cornwall-on-Hudson ).
